# Payment intent state change

> Sent when a payment intent is created, receives a deposit address, or receives funds. `status`
is one of `created`, `pending`, `active`, `complete`, `expired`, `failed`, or `refunded`.
One-time intents use `pending` while awaiting a deposit; continuous intents use `active` once a
deposit address is assigned. `timeline` carries each status the intent has passed through.
