# Solana ATA sponsorship

Solana transfers require an
[Associated Token Account (ATA)](https://solana.com/docs/tokens#associated-token-account)
for every token a wallet holds. Gas Station pays the rent deposit required to
create those ATAs so you don't have to fund the creation fees. Without
sponsorship, you must
[create and fund an ATA yourself](/wallets/gas-station/create-solana-ata).

## Protect against abuse

  If Circle detects ATA abuse, Circle will suspend your account and charge you for
  the sponsored spend tied to that abuse.

You are responsible for detecting abuse scenarios such as users repeatedly
closing ATAs to reclaim rent deposits. You should monitor sponsored transactions
and set [policies](/wallets/gas-station/policy-management) that match your risk
tolerance.
